Wow, its been a while since I've written a blog post. The schools finished, the summer happened and I found myself with zero free time to do anything else except look after my kids! This week was the first week I've had both boys in bed before 9pm and I have to say I'm so happy to get them back into a bit of a routine so I can get my evenings back!
I hope everyone managed to get through the first week back at school without any major hiccups? Back to school time can be an amazing and exciting time for some, but for others it can fill them full of dread and can cause real stress to our kids. If you haven't used them before the Bach Flower Remedies are a fantastic, natural way to help correct any emotional imbalances you or your family may be experiencing. Back to school is a perfect time to use them as kids are faced with so many different emotions, some they talk to you about, others they don't, so the Flower Remedies can help with them all.
There are 38 Bach Flower Remedies in total and each one is directed to a particular characteristic or emotional state. They can also come in combination remedies – Rescue Remedy being the most common one. It is actually a blend of five of the flower essences and was created to deal with any crisis or emergency – I used it before my driving test to calm my nerves and it worked wonders – it is definitely a good thing to have in your first aid kit at home.
Here are some specific remedies that can help children at this time of the year:
Walnut: This is a remedy that supports change and transition in many ways, so perfect for this time of year. It's great for supporting the child through any changes in life, like moving house, the arrival of a new sibling, it can help a baby with teething and can help when your adolescent is going through puberty.
Larch: A remedy to reach for if your child has low confidence or low self-esteem as it can help soothe any doubt in your child's mind and help develop a better self esteem.
Impatiens: This is s great remedy for children who are restless and irritable, and who get frustrated at themselves or others. This remedy can help bring a sense of calm and relaxation.
Mimulus: This remedy can help children who are fearful or shy – and is good for separation anxiety. It's useful for children who have a fear of dogs, or going to the dentist as it can help the child have more courage and confidence.
Aspen: This would be the remedy to reach for if your child is having nightmares or if they are anxious without being able to tell you why. Use it if your child has woken in middle of night after a bad dream as it can help ease any uncertainty the are feeling and bring a sense of calm.
Vervain: This remedy can help hyperactive children be calm, and can help with many forms of over excitement or eagerness. It can help bring balance to an over enthusiastic child and bring a sense of calm.
